VHF Assist is a maritime emergency communication and reference application developed by YACHTPRO.ES.
This Privacy Policy explains how the application accesses, uses, and stores information.
2. Information Used by the Application
Location information
VHF Assist requests access to the device's location to support:
GPS coordinates for maritime emergency communication.
Man Overboard (MOB) position recording.
Distance and bearing calculations to a recorded MOB position.
Continued MOB location tracking while the application is in the background or the device screen is locked, when an MOB event is active.
The application uses location information to provide these functions. MOB incident coordinates and timestamps may be stored locally on the device.
Vessel information
Users may enter vessel details, including vessel name, call sign, MMSI, dimensions, and other information relevant to maritime communication.
This information is stored locally on the device.
3. Data Storage
VHF Assist stores vessel information, application preferences, and MOB incident history locally on the user's device.
The application does not require users to create an account.
4. Data Sharing
VHF Assist does not automatically transmit stored vessel details or MOB incident history to the developer.
The application does not sell personal information.
Users may choose to communicate information displayed or generated by the application through external communication services. Such communication is subject to the privacy practices of the services used.
5. Background Location
When the user activates MOB tracking, VHF Assist uses a foreground location service to continue updating the device's position while the application is in the background or the screen is locked.
An ongoing notification indicates that MOB tracking is active.
Background tracking ends when the MOB event is stopped through the application.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Vessel information and completed MOB incident history may remain stored locally until removed through available application controls or by clearing the application's data or uninstalling it.
Uninstalling the application or clearing its data may permanently delete locally stored records.
7. Children's Privacy
VHF Assist is intended as a maritime reference and emergency-support application and is not specifically directed toward children.
8. Security
VHF Assist uses Android's application storage and permission mechanisms to protect locally stored information.
No method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.
9. Maritime Safety Disclaimer
VHF Assist is a supplementary maritime communication and reference tool.
It is not a substitute for approved navigation equipment, proper lookout, professional seamanship, or established emergency procedures.
Users remain responsible for following applicable maritime regulations and safety procedures.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when application functionality or data-handling practices change.
Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date.
